Nibling Support

Help for Nibling, the menu-bar pet for macOS.

Where is Nibling?

Nibling lives in your menu bar (the top-right of your screen), not in the Dock. Look for the small robot. It has no window of its own — click the menu-bar item to interact with it.

Getting started — hatching

The first time you launch Nibling, you'll meet an egg. Click it to watch it hatch, then give your pet a name. Your pet also rolls a couple of little personality quirks at hatch. This only happens once.

Caring for your pet

Nibling's mood mirrors your Mac: a low battery makes it hungry, heat makes it feverish, a full disk makes its room messy. Caring for your Mac cares for your pet. Left-click the menu-bar item to open the "room" — pet it, check its stats, and read its journal and weekly letters. Right-click for the menu (Settings, Quit).

iCloud backup — keeping your pet safe

Turn on iCloud backup in Settings and your pet's soul is saved to your own iCloud, so it survives a reinstall or a move to a new Mac. When you launch Nibling on a Mac with no local pet, it restores from iCloud automatically — no re-hatching, same pet. Your data stays in your Apple account; there is no Nibling server.

Notifications

Nibling can gently notify you about a weekly letter or a milestone, but only if you turn notifications on in Settings. They're off by default.

Privacy

Nibling collects nothing and sends nothing off your Mac. See the Privacy Policy.
